Unlocking the door: Supporting non-UK nationals facing homelessness (online)
A Talk by Moud Goba and Kateya Mbita
About this Talk
Meaningful solutions to end homelessness for non-UK nationals with immigration-based restrictions have long felt like the missing pieces of the puzzle in national plans to end rough sleeping. This session will focus on innovative ways that services can support non-UK nationals experiencing homelessness.
Kateya Mbita will present an overview of findings from research published by Homeless Link and NACCOM, entitled “Unlocking the Door”. This will include exploring opportunities to design, build and deliver inclusive services for non-UK nationals facing homelessness. We will also hear from Moud Goba, National Manager of Micro Rainbow, who will share a practical example of the ways that Micro Rainbow supports marginalised LGBTQI+ migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum including providing safe temporary housing, a social inclusion programmes that tackles the extreme isolation of this marginalised group; and employability training and moving on support.
