About this speaker

Jane is a Registered General Nurse and Public Health Specialist (Health Visitor) who has worked with individuals and groups who experience exclusion (asylum seekers, refugees, homeless families, single homeless people, migrants, undocumented migrants, unaccompanied minors, Travellers and gypsies) for over 38 years working in a variety of settings to deliver accessible and appropriate health care (in hostels, bed-and-breakfast accommodation, day centres, prisons, accommodation centres and on the street).

Jane has been involved in designing and in developing services with both users of services as well as a range of partners in order to develop integrated services that meet presenting needs in a holistic way with health being seen with a public health framework so as to have the greatest impact, both immediately and in the longer term. She has been involved in developing resources, national guidance and policies to improve standards, tackle health inequalities and improve access to services.

Jane is currently the Health and Homelessness Adviser with the Rough Sleepers Initiative (Department of Leveling Up, Housing and Communities).

Jane is a co-founder of the Queens Nursing institute Homeless Network and is Chair of the London Network for Nurses and Midwives.
